The dining hall food in the BLUU isn't great, but there's plenty of dining options on campus (a healthy smoothie bar, chick-fil-a, Peet's, flatbreads, etc.) and others on University Avenue. The dorms are well-equipped and updated, and the recreation center is a great facility. TCU has a great campus, with state-of-the-art buildings and facilities. This year, students have been calling TCU an "everything school" because of our success in academics and across all sports. Students are incredibly proud to be horned frogs and hold lots of school pride. The school spirit of TCU is unlike any other school. They are great resources as mentors both in an outside the classroom. Many have their PhD, with years of real-world industry experience. The professors genuinely care about their students and want their students to succeed. Senior: TCU has an incredibly inclusive and supportive community. This would undermines the greatest strength of the school. I believe that the faculty and administration needs to wrestle control back form the student governments as their initiatives are asking for more direct administrative intervention to help ensure students have a "safe" experience. However, I am nervous that this opportunity is under threat and is the most pressing challenge that the University faces in the coming years. Students are presented with the opportunity to really grow as individuals and learn more about themselves and their beliefs without the overbearing presence of hand holding through the process. Whether you are looking for personal or professional guidance there is a large pool of talent and wisdom that you can pull from coming from the professors and phd students. I really think that BU's greatest strength and asset for students is the faculty that you get a chance to meet here. Senior: For context I am going into my last year at BU (my 3rd year). ![]() However, there are plenty of opportunities to succeed in tutoring centers, office hours, discussion sections, and study groups. This scale continues in the same pattern down to an F, but there is no A+ to offset an A. Most courses require a 93 or above to award a 4.0 to the student, with 90-92.99 being considered an "A-" (3.67) and 87-89 being B+(3.33). However, the +/- GPA scale at UT can be hard to overcome. UT allows students to gain experience in their fields before applying to their dream jobs, thus strengthening their applications and generating an interest in becoming the best one can be in their field. There are programs gauged to any possible interest a student may have, whether for business or pleasure. ![]() UT offers some of the most incredible research opportunities, internships, study abroad programs, and organizations of any Texas school. Junior: The University of Texas at Austin provides a multitude of opportunities to help students succeed. Although, I would love to see this culture change there is nothing I can do besides adopt or ignore this toxic culture. The issue with going to a widely-known intellectual school is dealing with the culture of people who constantly stress about lacking intelligence among their peers or the people who carry a hubris with them in and out of class. Additionally, an incredibly difficult thing to change at the school also has to do with the academics, rather the culture of the academics at CMU. Fortunately, a new gym is currently being built to be open by 2024. However, the sheer amount of academic resources drowns the amount of athletic resources. The professors helped me learn about topics and perspectives in my field that I never thought of previously. Sophomore: Carnegie Mellon is an excellent university with a diverse range of resources that I find very useful, including the technology such as access to several different types of software and several computer labs across campus.
